Despite some of the complications from last year’s event, FYF Festival gambled this year that festival fans would not be able to resist the lure of an amazing lineup. The sun-drenched Los Angeles Historic Park played host to the one of the South Land’s largest music festivals this past weekend with nearly 20,000 in attendance. In partnership with Golden Voice, FYF Fest’s 8th year edition saw over 30 acts, highlighted by Simian Mobile Disco, Death From Above 1979, Broken Social Scene, Descendants, Weakerthans and Cold War Kids. The day-long event started at 12pm and went on until 12am. In a musical zone that diligently breaks down into sub-genres, the festival’s 30+ acts added up to a broad-spectrum survey, from crowd-pleasing electronic dance and soulful indie to relentless old school punk. The 30+ artists performed on five outdoor stages and every performance put bodies in motion. Of course we were there and brought our trusty cameras with us!
