On Tuesday October 4th, Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, launched an unprecedented six consecutive night concert run at New York City’s legendary Roseland Ballroom with his Meowington’s Hax tour. We had the honor of attending the award show to kick off this highly anticipated event.

The night started with Live Nation presenting Deadmau5 with a plaque of six framed tickets commemorating the event. To match with the Meowington t-shirt, he posed in a brand new Swiss cheese helmet that was designed by a fan.

Zimmerman’s record label Ultra Music also presented a plaque for achieving gold record status for his single “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff.” We all celebrated by cutting into a life-sized Deadmau5 helmet cake from Carlo’s Bakery of TLC’s “Cake Boss.”

The six night sold out show closed on Sunday October 9, 2011 with crowd energy of massive proportions. Opening with Sleepy & Boo, Feed Me then Excision who had the audience nodding in unison with their complimentary neon glow ears.

We loved Excision’s rendition of Calvin Harris’ “Flashback.” We loved it even more when he surprised us by following with an unmixed version of Dr. Dre’s “Next Episode” Get my drink on, and my smoke on, then go home with, something to poke on!

The ridiculousness that followed was a combination Deadmau5′ energy, the amazing sound the Roseland Ballroom produced and the mesmerizing stage show. Curtains dropped to reveal Deadmau5 fitted with a cheese mau5head, elevated on an LED-covered cube surrounded by flashing lights and technology that is way too advanced to decipher and is something that both electronic music lovers and tech heads can appreciate.

Mid-set Sofi came out to perform “Sofi Needs A Ladder” and “One Trick Pony.” Sofi, we loved your silver hooded leotard. HOT HOT HOT.

All in all, Deadmau5 created and lived up to the hype more than anyone could ask for. He makes sure to satisfy everyone in the audience with the variety of songs in his set. If you haven’t yet, get your tickets and check out this show before its over. You don’t want to miss this.
